Calculate finished design size and fabric requirements for any fabric count. This flexible calculator supports all common Aida and Evenweave/Linen counts in one tool.
Instead of separate calculators for each fabric count preset, this unified tool lets you quickly compare different counts and see how fabric choice affects your finished design size.
14-count means 14 stitches fit per linear inch of fabric. It's the most popular fabric count—easy to see, comfortable to stitch, and produces nice finished sizes for most patterns.
14-count produces LARGER finished pieces. Lower count numbers = bigger stitches = larger finished size. A 100-stitch pattern measures 7.1 inches on 14-count but only 5.6 inches on 18-count.
18-count Aida has 18 stitches per inch—smaller holes for finer detail work. Best for experienced stitchers working on detailed patterns. Creates smaller finished pieces than 14-count.
Place a ruler on the fabric edge and count how many woven squares fit inside 1 inch. If 11 squares fit, it's 11-count. If 14 squares fit, it's 14-count.
14-count Aida is best for most stitchers—easy to see, works with 2 strands of floss, produces good detail. 11-count is easier for beginners or vision-impaired stitchers. 16-18 count is better for fine detail work.
